Why Don’t We Trust God, How Can We Start?

Trust what is trust? What is trust
 in God?
 Why

don’t people trust

God?

Trust  can be defined as

  • reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing; confidence.
  • confident expectation of something; hope.

When Eve made her big mistake,

she helped the fall of humanity and sent us into a darkness, the Eve

of darkness as some would call it.

Remember she listened to a liar.  She
listened to the Father of lies

and what did he tell her?

I don’t know about you, but any liar I
encountered often created
havoc in many ways.

Anyhow remember Genesis3:1-5

{The serpent} said to the woman, “Did God say, ‘You shall not eat

from any tree in the garden’?”  And the woman said, “We may eat of

the fruit of the trees of the garden; but
God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the
 garden, neither shall you

touch it, lest you die.’”

But the serpent said to the woman,

“You will not die.

For God knows that when you eat of it
your eyes will be opened,

and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

So, Satan the father of lies makes God look like a liar.

And he makes God look selfish and conniving.
Bottom-line is Satan makes God look bad, questioning His goodness, making God look evil and untrustworthy.  We all know the rest.

But it all began with a lie refuting
 God’s word

and creating doubt about God’s good-ness and trustworthiness. Ever hear the line, “if God is so good, why does He……….?”  Epitome of distrust, confusion and
 doubt.

Catechism of Catholic Church
speaks of this first sin to get to the bottom line.

Man, tempted by the devil, let his trust
in his Creator die in his

heart and, abusing his freedom, disobeyed God’s command.  This is

what man’s first sin consisted of.  All
subsequent sin would be

disobedience toward God and lack of
TRUST in HIS GOODNESS.

So, trust is a big issue here, actually the biggest issue.

If you think

God is not Good, why would you trust HIM?  You would be like

Adam and Eve after the fall, hiding from HIM.  Where is the trust?

Guess we all have some distrust issues, sadly.

There are solutions to heal this lack of trust, but you have to initiate

it.  You can restore your faith, hope and trust in God.   And

the

keyword to this healing is MERCY.  Gods mercy is infinite,

us finite

beings have limits and even our sins and shortfall are finite!  Yes, anyone can have Gods mercy.  And I do mean anyone.  I have seen it at

work with many folks, including the
worst sinners you

could imagine…..For when sin abounds, Grace abounds even more.  If you find this stuff bothersome and annoying, I

apologize, kinda.  But I challenge

you to take this with you in your life and never forget it——> GODS

NAME IS MERCY!

I am reading a Do-It-Yourself retreat called 33 days to
Merciful LOVE, by Michael E.

Gaitley, MIC and would like to share
tidbits with you all.

Have a great day!

  1. God works in mysterious ways, his wonders to perform.
I was organist at the local church in the village where I now live for over 25 years. I left because the then vicar annoyed me. I sort of lost a little faith because of his attitude.
I started going back to church just over 2 years ago and have joined the church choir at the main church where I live. It’s been so good for me. So much more has come from that experience. I played the organ again after 18 years away from it and have sung in some wonderful churches and cathedrals.
God really showed me the way to get back to “being me”, so you should trust your God, however you see God.

  3. Hi Paula,

Good question. Over the last 7-1/2 years I’ve struggled a lot with anger for taking my husband away from me so soon. I’m not as angry now but I do still have trust issues and I am working on them and asking for help from God.

There are so many things I don’t understand. I guess we aren’t supposed to but it’s hard not to wonder.

Thanks for the post to make me think some more about things.

    1. It is a journey and we often do not see the beauty of the tapestry until we get to the other side. Life is challenging at times for sure. But living in the moment helps the past be the past nd the future the future. I will say an extra prayer for you

  4. I will hopefully edit this, but my computer really gave me grief with this. It was as if it had a mind of its own and would not let me post or correct anything. OMG, good grief. I apologize for the disorder, but was grateful to finally get it posted with a title and some corrections.
